When in Doubt, Just Say Yes!

I still remember the day of my interview like it was yesterday. "If you're not sure if this job is for you then check off no and I’ll see you right away." says the manager. Luckily he couldn’t read minds because he wouldn’t have offered me the job if he could. I’m a little stubborn at times and have the tendency to do the opposite of what people tells me to do so I decided to check off yes even though I wasn’t sure. Later that day though, I felt uneasy and I thought to myself, “what did I just put myself into? Do I really want to sell knives?”

Then I remembered why I applied for this job in the first place; I wanted to gain experience and Vector Marketing Canada was the only company who didn’t refuse to give me an opportunity. The “knife thing”, as people refer to it, didn’t hesitate to give me a shot so I thought it’s just fair that I give it a try. After just a few days of cutting, reading, and meeting new people every day, I found myself having so much fun.

I find it ironic that now that I have the experience that I’ve always wanted, I don’t think I still need it. I wouldn’t want to go out there again to find a better job. Why? Because nothing compares to what Vector Marketing Canada has to offer. There were times when people would ask me what I do and they would laugh or would give me a weird look when I tell them that I sell knives. They can continue laughing but I’ll always be proud of what I do because I know it’s not just about what you do; it’s about the skills you’ve learned and will continue to learn as you move forward and the new friends you’ve gained along the way.
