Why Entrepreneurship?

I am so excited by all the attention that entrepreneurship is getting this week in Canada, and across the world. The Canadian Youth Business Foundation website describes GEW as:

“Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is an international movement designed to inspire millions of young people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity through entrepreneurship. Through events and activities, we celebrate the success of entrepreneurs and inspire more people to follow their passion and choose entrepreneurship as a career. From November 12 to 18, 2012, Canadians will come together to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Canada.”

We all know that our economy has changed, the job market has shifted and students can no longer be assured that their security is with the corporate job that they hope to land right after graduation. More and more frequently, we see security comes to those that take their future into their own hands as entrepreneurs.

I think at Vector Marketing Canada, we provide students with a real taste of this. Young people are given the chance to work for themselves, but not by themselves. They have the opportunity to control their own business, without having to purchase inventory or worry about shipping products to clients. They have a much larger organization there to support them, and a local management team who is committed to their training and helping them to succeed.

Student sales reps have the opportunity to grow their capacity and they also have pride in knowing that they are rewarded for their efforts and they can control their own advancement. They learn and truly develop skills in networking, problem solving, and communication. As entrepreneurs they are setting themselves up for a future where they can decide what they’re worth and take the initiative to make their dreams come true.

This country wouldn’t be where we are today without the great many entrepreneurs that followed their passion and I’m thrilled that students today are being exposed to the many benefits of entrepreneurship.
